A space devoted to civilisations of the world.

All year long

Paris | France

The Quai Branly Museum in Paris, located close to the Eiffel Tower, the banks of the Seine and the pont de l'Alma, presents a collection of objects which come from civilisations in Africa, Asia, Australasia and the Americas.

The building was designed by architect Jean Nouvel, and it spreads over 39 000m², housing 300,000 pieces of art. When coming up with the design, the architect made a conscious effort to ensure that the collections on display would be protected from sunlight and harmful elements.
The 3,500 objects that can be seen there highlight the historical depth of the cultures being represented and the diversity of the meanings these pieces have.
The way the museum has been laid out invites the visitor to stop for a moment to reflect on important thematic insights: masks and tapa cloth in Oceania, clothing from Asia, musical instruments or textiles in Africa, are all the subjects of high quality video installations.
