Agnès B., the self-taught designer, was an editor of the fashion section of She before creating her own brand label. Her first shop was inaugurated in Les Halles quarter (the covered market area) in 1973, in Rue du Jour... Her chic, classic-with-quirks style rapidily found success, built upon by the release of her emblematic trademark piece, the buttoned cardigan, worn by every woman in the 1990s.
Her Parisian stores multiplied, particularly in Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
From 1984, Agnès B. decided to support contemporary art by exhibiting artists in her Gallery du Jour , located in Rue Quincampoix, close to the Georges Pompidou centre. An active creator, she supports many cultural and humanitarian causes.
